Internationally acclaimed classical pianist Sarah Hagen hosts six conceptually innovative chamber music performances in the 2014-2015 season including a solo performance February 3rd. Guest performers include: Rebecca Wenham (cello) on September 23rd, Krzysztof Kaczka (flute) on October 28th, Marcus Takizawa (viola) on November 25th, The Bergmann Piano Duo on March 10th, and Benjamin Butterfield (tenor) on Apriil 14th.
About Marcus:
Marcus Takizawa has studied with Karen Tuttle & Gerald Stanick, and members of the Chicago, Guarneri, and Juilliard String Quartets. He received a grant from the Canada Council to study at The Juilliard School and graduated with a Master of Music Degree in Performance. Marcus has been a finalist at several music competitions including the Eckhardt-Gramatte, ASTA, and Irving Klein International String Competitions.
Marcus Takizawa is a member of the VAM Quartet and The Turning Point Ensemble.
He is also on the faculty at the Vancouver Academy of Music, working with young musicians as an orchestra and chamber music coach.
Marcus also performs with Jules Lavern (aka Hitori Tori) in the band Chordophone (www.chordophone.net) performing and writing music for viola and electronics using Ableton Live.
In addition to working as a freelance musician, Marcus works for Sparkjoy Studios, a web design studio specializing in developing great, easy to use websites based on the WordPress platform.
Their clients include The Turning Point Ensemble and The Vancouver Academy of Music.
