Morning Melodies with violinist Peter Krysa

Arrive at the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre at 10:00am for coffee, tea, treats and a chance to chat with the musicians. The 70-minute concert starts at 10:30am in the Marie Fleming Hall featuring Peter Krysa on Violin. As a professional violinist, Mr. Krysa has performed many solo and chamber music recitals in Canada, the United States, Europe and China. On November 3rd he is joined on stage by pianist and series host Sarah Hagen for this intimate chamber music experience.

About Peter:

Peter Krysa’s music studies began in Moscow with his father, Oleh Krysa, a distinguished soloist and student of David Oistrakh who is currently on the faculty of the Eastman School of Music. In 1989 Peter moved to North America where he attended the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, University of Toronto and the Manhattan School of Music in New York City.

As a professional violinist, Mr. Krysa has performed many solo and chamber music recitals in Canada, the United States, Europe and China. As a soloist, he has performed with Yuri Bashmet’s Moscow Soloists, National Orchestra of Ukraine, Kiev Chamber Orchestra, Lviv Philharmonic, INSO-Lviv Orchestra, Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, Bachanalia Chamber Orchestra, and the St. Thomas Orchestra. His other credits include performances at Alice Tully Hall, Merkin Hall, Weill Recital Hall, Wigmore Hall and the Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory.

Peter was a member of the Leontovych String Quartet 1999-2003 and Geister Trio 1996-1999; the latter’s performances were featured on ABC News and Boston’s classical radio stations WGBH and WCRB. Chamber music collaborations have involved pianists Sergei Babayan, Cullan Bryant, Bella Davidovich, Scott Dunn, Vladimir Feltsman, Elizaveta Kopelman, Dmitri Rachmanov, Barry Snyder, Tatiana Tchekina to name a few and members of Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Houston, and Montreal Symphony Orchestras, New York Philharmonic as well as the St. Paul and Orpheus Chamber Orchestras. Festival appearances comprise of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Grand Teton Music Festival and the Park City International Chamber Music Festival among others.

Mr. Krysa was co-founder and Artistic Director of the Lake Winnipesaukee Music Festival and Winnipesaukee Chamber Players in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. Over its 8-year tenure, the Festival presented over 100 concerts with more than 50 world-class performers. Additionally, Peter founded the Rosewood Caribbean Chamber Music Festival in the British Virgin Islands and more recently (2008), he established the Amanyara Chamber Series at the Amanyara Resort on the Turks and Caicos Islands. During the 2009 and 2010 season this series incorporated a unique educational outreach for the Islands which included hosting a community concert and performing at two local primary schools and teaching children about classical music as well as giving them a chance to experience classical instruments hands on.

Peter Krysa resides in Vancouver, Canada. He is a full time member of the Vancouver Opera Orchestra, Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra in Seattle, WA and regularly performs with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. He is also the Artistic Director of Music at Whistler, a concert series in Whistler, British Columbia.
