Classical Piano Recital and Lecture
Just in time for Valentine’s Day join Sarah at the Horizon Stage for a bitter-sweet musical love story. Nineteenth century German composer and pianist Johannes Brahms was an independent spirit who created works for piano, chamber ensembles, orchestras, solo voice, and chorus. Considered both a traditionalist and an innovator, his music was firmly rooted in the Baroque and Classical genres. Many of the compositions in his body of work are modern concert repertoire staples that have served as inspiration for generations of young composers and musicians.
Canadian pianist Sarah Hagen strives to both entertain and educate audiences with The Music of Brahms – Love in Every Bite. With expressive technique, an engaging personality, and startling fresh concepts, she is equally at home in front of a symphony orchestra or in an intimate concert setting. Sarah’s daytime performances are informal and relaxed. Audience members may choose to interact and ask questions or just sit back and enjoy the extraordinary music. Seating for this performance will be general admission and a limited number of chairs will be available at tables on the stage, right next to Sarah and the grand piano. Complimentary coffee, tea, and goodies will be served starting at 10 a.m.
