In anticipation of her upcoming recording of works by Cécile Chaminade, pianist Sarah Hagen presents an evening exploring the life and music of this trailblazing French composer. Now almost completely overlooked, Chaminade was a widely popular musical force at the turn of the 20th century. At the height of her success, there were more than 200 chapters of “Chaminade Clubs”, gatherings to celebrate the composer and to discuss the presence of women on the musical scene. Sarah will host her own version of a Chaminade Club through exquisite piano music and storytelling.
The show begins at 7:30 pm and will be approximately 75 minutes long without intermission. Admission is “Pay What You Will” at the door or by e-transfer to sarah@sarahhagen.com
